Matte VS Dewy Makeup

Hi guys, Today I will post about the different of matte and dewy makeup looks. There are so many people around me asking me the question about these two looks.
I think most of you have already known about matte makeup finish, and this is the most favorite look. You can see a lot of makeup products in market from variant brands promise you to get this matte finish. Matte finish is smooth, velvety, refined and even without shiny spots. Usually woman with all skin type suit this look, but matte finish is wonderful for woman with oily and combination skin types.
The right foundation is key for this matte look. Matte finish foundations tend to be absorb the light and impart little to no shine. It is also tend to have medium/full coverage, so it is very long lasting and perfect for special event or night.

How about dewy look? This look is about fresh, luminous and glow skin that looks healthy and youthful. I think Dewy look become more popular inspired by Korean actress. Their healthy and glowing skin become a trend. Dewy look is wonderful for woman with dry to normal skin types. But don't worry, for you with oily or combination skin type, you can still get this look. Certainly with the right makeup techniques.
Dewy look is identical with natural and healthy look. Tinted moisturizer, BB cream, or light water based foundation and other sheer makeup are the right choice for you to get this look. Avoid to use the medium to full coverage foundation.
But be careful with this makeup look. There is a fine line between dewy and oily or grassy. You must know the right amount to get this glow, fresh and healthy glow. For example : Do not put too much highlighter to your face, just apply it at your cheekbones for fresh effect. If you put too much, your face will ends up like a disco ball LOL. And be careful to choose your makeup products, avoid the shimmer products to your face (especially for you with oily and big pores problems) cause it can make your pores looks more biggerrr.

Here is my own techniques and recommend product for this look.

*Matte finish look
Techniques :
1. Apply thin layer of moisturizer
2. Apply makeup base primer (This step is important because it can make our face like a smooth canvas that ready for next makeup step.
3. Apply your favorite foundation with sponge (to more coverage and flawless result) or flat top brush (For air-brushed effect). Don't forget to apply it to your neck for natural effect (not like using mask)
4. Take your translucent loose powder after it with sponge or kabuki brush, put your favorite blush on and  compact powder (with kabuki brush, do not use sponge cause it make your makeup look heavy) to more flawless effect

  3. Hi,
I'm a little confused about step 4 for the matte look. Are we supposed to use two products for step 4 or just one? Is the translucent loose powder the same thing as the compact powder or are they two separate things?
